3)Tompek (Tinompeh / Anggang)


Also known as Tompek or Tinompeh is a food made from cassava. Cassava which has its diparut and squeezed (called Panggih ‘ flour ‘) will be fried without oil in a frying pan until lah kekuning-kuningan stain. Tompek is also often used as food substitute rice and eaten with relish dishes like vegetables and fish. It is also popular among ethnic groups in Sabah and Sulu.

4) Kima


Kima – Kima is a kind of sea scallops which is traditional food East Coast Sabah Bajau. East Coast bajau who is famous as “Sea Gypsies” are extremely reliable in diving and always got the Clams as a staple in the past. These foods can be eaten either raw (after cleared) or after cooked. Clams are often mixed with cooked vegetables.

1) SAGOL


Sagol – Sagol (also called Siagol) is one of the traditional foods in Sabah Bajau tribe. sagol is a word in the Bajau language which means mixed or mixture. These foods often cooked using beef Fish Buntal, Stingray or Sharks (generally fish have big hearts. Now, Shark fishing is prohibited as between species of fish that are threatened with extinction). Residents of the East Coast Sabah Bajau are extremely reliable in fisheries and activities including cooking the fish dish is also toxic fish such as Buntal. IKan Buntal should be handled by an experienced cook to get rid of its poison in order to be safe to eat. Sagol can also be cooked in two types of cuisine that is ‘ Sagol cleaning (no gravy) and wet Sagol (there are gravy).


2) TEHE TEHE


 Tehe’-tehe’ – Tehe-tehe is a type of seafood which is popular among East Coast Sabah Bajau. It is very nutritious and good for health. His very simple way of preparation where you need to wash the tehe, tehe-enter the rice into it and stew. After the rice is already cooked, cut the tehe and tehe-can be served. This Rice Cake is called Tehe ‘-‘ it feels there is Tehe almost like fish eggs but it’s delicious.
